Shares for Sale

Shares for Sale at Blue Earth Forest Farm

Who:

There are currently 3 major share holders and 1 minor shareholder.

Major shareholders: have ability to build 1 permanent structure,
if and only if there is active farming being done by each shareholder to maintain farm status (the land is largely in the ALR).

Minor shareholders: have ability to build 1 small structure for "seasonal" use.

(we are zoned for 10 in total)

There is potentially 1 major share for sale and some minor shares.

We are actively seeking a full time organic farmer to join us.

We are actively seeking a mechanic to join us.

We are interested in wood workers, foresters, black smith's, healers, scientists and herbalists.

Please contact us for more information at michael hollihn, one word, at gmail dot com.

What:

The land is 160 acres in the arid interior of British Columbia, Canada.

It is mostly a young mature forest in the interior Douglas Fir zone.

We are committed to thinning roughly 120 acres of this forest which is largely overgrown and poses a considerable fire hazard to any existing and future infrastructure.

Currently we have thinned 3-4 acres of the forest closest to the existing infrastructure.

There is roughly 10 acres of meadows where we have started a 1 acre Permaculture food-forest.

There is a 1500 acre woodlot that is Crown land that we are currently engaged with a renewal process.

The Venables Valley is off the grid.

We live adjacent to one of the provinces oldest intentional communities of Saranagati Ecovillage.

They have lived off grid for more than 30 years and have been a great source of information and help.

The infrastructure consists of:

2 bedroom cabin with medium sized solar system and gravity fed water system.

Workshop

Generator shed (that houses a Lister diesel 'put put' generator, solar/micro-hydro power junction box)

Tractor shed

Greenhouse

Root cellar

Massey Ferguson gas tractor

Diesel Grapple loader

D6 Cat Bulldozer

Grader

Backhoe

Sawmill site

Future timber framing/traditional woodworking shop site

Kitchen Garden

1 acre food-forest with a focus on berries and medicinal plants with:

adaptogenic, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral properties.

Pond

The shares currently for sale:

Major share: $95,000 (with option to purchase $30,000 cabin)

Minor shares (9): $30,000

Where:

We are located

3.5 hours from the city of Vancouver,

1.5 hours from the city of Kamloops, and

.5 hours from the village of Ashcroft.

Why:

This is probably the most important piece of information to see if you might be a good fit for this type of lifestyle.

Paradigms and world-views are changing.

We are interested in both the gross and subtler energy systems that surround and sustain us.

These can also be described as material and non-material (physical and metaphysical/spiritual) energy systems.

Living off the grid is very helpful to understand that energy is not a right but a privilege.

We are very thankful to be able to have lights at night and hot water to cook and clean with.

Understanding the embodied energies of all our technological needs and wants is paramount to making the shift towards true sustainability as easy as possible.

Of course, this respect for energy can and needs to be engaged with everywhere.

A few other critical focal points of Blue Earth Forest Farm requires us to live in a more rural setting.

Living without a mortgage (death pledge by definition) and avoiding debt slavery.

British Columbia has become largely unaffordable to the quickly eroding middle class.

Finding an affordable  place to live with plans for sovereignty was paramount.

Food and Shelter security are also of critical importance during times of shifting paradigms.

We are committed to learning and practicing organic agricultural systems that, at first, reduce, and eventually do away with any top-soil erosion.

These include a diverse spectrum of organic, biodynamics, food-forestry, perennial dominant polycultures, annual dominant polycultures, Permaculture, no-till etc.

We are committed to learning and practicing non-clearcut low-grade selection logging systems, that, at first, reduce, and eventually do away with any top-soil erosion.

These include a diverse spectrum of EcoForestry and Permaculture food-forest techniques.

First Nations reconciliation and decolonization.

There is healing on so many levels happening at the moment; personal and societal which bring along all the other factions of our lives.

The First Nations medicine wheel has space for all colors and races.

If one person heals from their own collective trauma, this makes space for others to heal.

If one community/society/culture heals from their own collective trauma, this makes space for others to heal.

Genocide is a label given to our country by other witnessing countries.

We have all suffered from it at certain stages of colonization.

We would like to acknowledge and be a part of this healing process in a constructive way.

Other Focal Points:

These are some other key interests that we are actively pursuing up here:

Understanding and practicing material minimalism (being happy with less), gratitude, forgiveness and surrender.

What are your key interests?

You have:

Some level of compassion and understanding for physical, mental and spiritual healing.

Some level of understanding of your strengths and weaknesses and are able to bring a positive and constructive dialogue and attitude to the community you engage with.

A desire to treat this creation with respect to all relations and are somewhere along this process of healing.

A strong work ethic to work seasonally on your own and with others.

An interest in some, or all of:

Observing, practicing and/or testing the gut microbiome in relation to a local food diet.

Mycology.

Soil biology.

Horizontal bee keeping.

Medicinal plants.

No-till food cultivation.

Essential oil distillation.

Mechanics and the shift towards non-petroleum energy systems.

Off-grid power systems.

Woodlot management.

Value added forestry.
